URBAN HI(S)STORY
video
(2017)
The video Urban Hi(s)story (2017) points on two kinds of conflicts: first is the relationship between culture and nature; second is the conflict of interpreting history, which is approached from a critical feminist perspective. The video uses visual materials collected in Rio de Janiero, Athens and Berlin - three geographically and culturally different metropolises with a common repeating pattern of representing history: busts of mostly male "national heroes" set in outdoor environment. These bronze heads in their symbolically significant habitat (parks, gardens, educational institution areas, squares) materialise the clash of culture with nature and both conflicts get more evident.
