Silvia Binda

Lives and works between Bratislava and Valencia, Spain
Silvia Binda is a visual and multimedia artist, researcher and creative coder. Her multidisciplinary artistic practice explores power relations in the digital era from a gender perspective. The artist applies an analytical and critical point of view to subvert the stereotypical and biased gender representations articulated visually and linguistically in social and virtual spaces.
Silvia experiments with symbolism, deconstruction, and hybridisation of images, data sets and texts, proposing a new feminist reading of a given matter. She uses video art, digital art, painting and multimedia installations to investigate the relationship between art, technology and feminism, and the possibilities of their contemporary readings.
Silvia earned her Doctoral Degree in Fine Arts: Practice and Research from the Polytechnic University of Valencia where she was part of the Art and Gender research group. She holds an MFA title in Artistic Creation with a focus on Painting and Contemporary artistic practice and an MFA in Visual and Multimedia Arts from the same institution.
